Off Road Fire Fighting
Significant and protracted wildland fire incidents are becoming more common throughout the UK and place a huge drain on local fire fighting resources, especially where access is limited or none existent.
Sharp Fire & Rescue have a number of vehicles with full or partial off road capabilities, inducing Pump Rescue Ladders, Targeted Response Vehicles, RIV’s with Fogging Pumps, Water Tankers and numerous support vehicles including Kubota RTV’s for moving equipment around the fire ground.
Our purpose built off road fire fighting vehicles can be used at incidents with difficult access for normal domestic appliances, or where resources are required elsewhere.
These vehicles come with drivers and crew. The personnel deployed are carefully selected to ensure that only those with extensive rural and off-road firefighting experience are deployed.
All drivers have a vast experience in off road driving, have undergone 4×4 driver tuition and are fully blue light trained.
We are able to assist in protracted and large scale incidents, with front line firefighting, fire stops, damping down and water relays meaning local resources can be released from the fire ground and are able to respond back into the community, being available for higher life risk incidents.
We are also able to provide personnel only on a “relief crew” basis to support local authority operations to ease the pressures on global crewing.
We can also provide TAC advisors (minimum rank of Station Commander) to assist with incident management, sectorisation, sector management, safety advisors and evacuation strategies.
We also have a number of both high and low pressure tank and pump sledge units available. These are completely self-contained including basic forcible entry tools and water replenishment equipment.
These can be made available on unmarked 4×4 pickups with prior notice, both with or without crew, or can be delivered in bulk at short notice with our IRU. These are available to local authority, civil contingency and emergency planning for severe weather conditions such as heat waves, or for prolonged incidents, or incidents where there are severe vehicle access problems.
A full hand over on their use will be given upon delivery and when delivered on our IRU, they will be loaded onto your vehicles with our Moffett forklift.
Our sister company Sharp Medical Services can also assist with the set up and implementation of evacuation centres including the triage of incoming victims and welfare services.
